“Perfect timing.” Titus replied with a wide smile. “The baked goods should be here any moment. They were scheduled for the base of the tower a while ago, so I imagine that Shauna should have them up here soon, she’s in better shape than those boys.” He gave the working mages a wink. “There’ll be enough for you all too.” He added with a friendly smile. “And there’s a keg in the foyer for when you guys get back down there.” He added. There was no risk of them taking a longer lunch to crack the keg; none of them would want to climb back up the ninety-nine flights of stairs again so soon.
“Thank you kindly dear.” Tits smiled at Sky as he took the ale she offered him, opened it up and took a drink. Just then, Shauna arrived with two baskets of fresh baked pastries and cookies. “Right there please sweaty.” He told the young mage with the baked goods, pointing to the center of the mostly empty room. It would be like a picnic for the mages in the high tower, and safely away from any books that could be greased or crumbed. In one of the baskets too, were enough bottles of milk for everyone. Titus wasn’t going to expect them all to enjoy all those pastries without milk to go with it. That would be near blasphemy.

Sky smiled at Titus and then at Shauna as she settled the basket down in the middle of the room. She walked over and sat on the floor next to the basket and drew out a pastry and patted the spot next to her. “Pull up some floor sexy.” She told him. “Thanks Shauna.” She told the other girl as she was leaving.
“So what you think?” She asked Titus.” Moving along as well as you’d hoped?” She finished. “I think so.” She put in her answer before he would ask it of her.
The little Mage then settled in and took a few bites of her pastry and grinned. “Mmmm.” She simply put it and then took anther bite. She then drank deeply from her ale and settled it on the floor next to her, all the while her hand still around its neck, natural instinct was to protect it from spilling, even if she was on the floor and the books were up there. One more subconscious move that she’d picked up over her years of working with books was to never leave an open container full of anything laying around without support of some kind.
“We’ve just got those ones to take down now.” She pointed at the back shelves. I think still however, that once we get them off the shelves, we should take care of the others before bringing them down, so that they might go directly back into shelving again from the tables up here.” She stated and then raised a brow at Titus in question.

“Oh quite well yes.” Titus answered with a smile as he sat down on the floor next to Sky. “Even faster than I had planned.” He added, looking around the room. “The boys are doing better than I thought. I’m glad I ordered enough of all this for them to share.”
The working mages by then had carried another set of shelves down the stairs and came back up. “Have a seat.” Welcomed Titus with his empty hand gesturing towards them; his other held his ail. Sky wasn’t the only one with old habits; in fact, his were older than hers by far.
Titus reached into the basket and picked up a soft Danish, which he immediately bit into. After taking a couple bites, he took a good sip of his ail as well, and looked back at Sky. “Of course dear.” He answered, as he agreed entirely with her assessment. “I think it might be a good idea even to clear a few of the shelves that you’ll be keeping, and keep those books up here. We can’t be too careful with some of those.” He added thoughtfully and then took another bite as the other mages all picked out their pastries, cookies, and milk and found themselves each a spot to sit nearby on the floor.

Sky watched as the others came to sit with them and smiled at them all. “Thanks guys, you’re honestly doing a great job.” She told them with sincerity. They really were working hard and she wouldn’t let that go without recognition.
Her head then turned to look over the volumes left on the last three shelves and she eyes them for several long moments as she took a few more bites from her pastry, finishing it off and then took another swallow of her ale. “I think the upper portion of the first and third should stay up here, the rest…” she paused to regard the shelves for a moment. “Add the middle row of the second as well.” She put in. “Yes, those one stay, the rest can move down I believe, unless there’s one in that group you want to stay, then it will.” She said as she turned back to Titus and smiled warningly at him.
She knew what eh was talking about and she quite agreed. She wanted some books left up here in her room and why not those, she’d be happy to accommodate them as a matter-of-fact.
She then reached back in the basket and pulled another pastry out and smiled. “You best not keep feeding me like this, or my waist line just might not fit into these clothes anymore.” She laughed and then took a long swallow form her ale again.

“That should do it love.” He replied to Sky’s decision on the books. “Tanks for seeing my point.” He added with a smile as he finished his Danish and reached for a fluffy éclair.
“Yes, you’re all doing wonderfully.” Titus confirmed. “I appreciate it greatly.” He nodded, smiled, and took a drink of his ale, then a bite of the éclair.
“That would be a shame.” Titus responded to Sky’s feigned concern for her waistline. “That’s a terribly sexy outfit. Maybe you would have to wear no clothes at all, I wouldn’t mind that.” He mused, and took another drink. To his musing, a number of the mages nodded with expressions of agreement. The others were perhaps too shy to comment in any way.
The pastries were quite delicious, and still warm from the bakery. Titus finished his éclair quickly, and went next for a couple cookies.

“Indeed so it will be then, those will remain my roomies and we will stay up late discussing matters I am sure.” She said as she plucked one more pastry from the basket and then bit into it and then after she’d swallowed took a drink from her ale. “Thanks guys.” She said then and shook her head and laughed. “You are all too kind I’m sure.” She added and winked at them.
She knew she had a sexy little body and so it didn’t bother her in the least to have them act that way about it in the least, she was proud of that accomplishment and honestly, wasn’t worried in the least about loosing what she had, she was far too active for that.
She laid her head on Titus’s shoulder again, her favorite resting place for her head these days it seemed. As she finished off her ale and her pastry and looked around the room, her mind working out where she would put things once she moved them up. Of course, she knew well, that even if she had a settled image in her mind, once she got everything up here, she see it in a different light, it was inevasible.

“No, you’re just hot, and we’d all like to see it.” Titus affirmed and winked at Sky.
“It’s a true fact.” Confirmed one of the mages, Ivan, and the others nodded.
“So what do you think of your new room?” Titus asked as he finished laughing and gave Sky another kiss on her forehead, then popped a cookie into his mouth. “There’s probably at least twelve times as much space up here, even with the remaining shelves, than you have in the library upper room.” He added as he glanced around the relatively empty level of the tower.
Titus took another drink of his ale and then popped the next cookie into his mouth. “We have nuts and fruits too guys.” He said with a full mouth and pointed at the basket he had brought down in the morning. All the mages shook their heads with blank looks on their faces as they continued to eat their pastries and drink their milk. Titus shrugged, laughed, and reached into the basket. “There’s chocolates too.” He said then, pulling some out and tossing them over knowing that they wouldn’t shrug those ones off.

Sky laughed at them all and then shook her head. “Thanks all the same guys.” She said to them and then smiled over at Ivan.
“You know, I think your getting quite a nice little bottom there of your own.” She winked at him. “Been keeping on eye on it most the day ya know.” Sky then stated with a perfectly straight face as she looked over at him and then downed the last of her ale before looking over the room again.
She lifted her head from Titus’s shoulder then for a moment and reached around him and grabbed up a handful of nuts and popped on into her mouth as she laid her head back on his shoulder again. “I honestly don’t know Titus, I will figure it out though, and don’t you worry your mind about that.” She told him turning her head up to smile at him and sitting up slightly to kiss his cheek once more in return for the forehead kiss. Once settled back to her favorite spot, she took a deep breath, let it out slowly and then popped a few more nuts into her mouth and then laughed. “I could fit several of my rooms in here, and then some probably,” She mused out loud and then laughed again. “I’ll find things to add, I am not worried about that in the least.” She then finished that line of thinking as she plucked a milk from the center basket and opened it up and drank some.

Ivan smiled and many of the others laughed and jeered. “Now I’m a little jealous.” Titus joked as he nudged Sky lightly, then took another sip of his ale.
“It’s nice to get so many of us together.” Titus said with an earnest smile as he looked around at all the mages that were congregated there for their little pastry picnic. “It’s been a long time since we’ve all gotten together you know.” He added, still smiling happily at them all. “I’m quite glad we’re doing this.” He finished, then took another drink of ale. He truly was happy to have so many of his order members all in one room. It may have been a day of labor, but despite as frustrated as Titus usually was and as disappointed as he usually was in so many ways with them, he loved them all, and enjoyed their company.
Titus did spend most of his time alone, or talking briefly to multiple people. It wasn’t that he didn’t enjoy company; it was that he simply couldn’t relate to most people. He had lived too long and knew too much to truly be understood, but other mages more than anyone, were able to relate to that.

Sky grinned as Titus nudged her and told her that he was jealous and even gave a half laugh as she nudged him back with her shoulder and then smiled u at him form her position on his shoulder. “Now Titus, you know you’re my one and only.” She told him and turned her head to kiss his shoulder and then put her head back down.
Her smile widened as Titus spoke. She was always happiest when she knew he was happy and right now, he was just that. She couldn’t think the last time she’d seen him as happy as a matter of fact and she then pushed an arm under his and gave him a little squeeze.
She’d known for along time his frustration with the others, and she was quite proud of them today, they were showing him that they really did care about him and about the tower. They were really trying to do a good job in this and she turned her head and smiled at each of them as Titus continued to speak. Her dark orbs glistened and even sparked slightly in her appreciation as she popped the remaining nuts in her mouth and then washed them down with another drink of milk.
“I am very glad we’re doing this.” Sky then said. “As a matter of fact, we should do things like this more often, perhaps we wouldn’t grow so far apart from each other. I know it gets hard sometimes and all that, but honestly…” She left it hanging, hoping the others would gather her meaning. She never was to good at expressing exactly what she wanted to say all the time. Especially when it came to being serious about emotions. She always put thing to light with jokes and little quirky remarks to hide what she was really thinking.
After her little attempt at seriousness, she unhooked her arm from Titus and stood up. “Well, I think we should all get back to work, don’t want to eat too much or we’ll ALL be lazing about in a daze of plumped bliss and never get things finished.” She said, patting her tummy and stretching.

“Oh get a room you two.” Joked one of the mages and the others laughed.
“It’s almost a surprise we aren’t just moving you into the hundredth.” Ivan added, as the others continued to laugh, but nodded in agreement.
Titus laughed along with them all, but he actually saw where they all were coming from. He truly actually was happier than he had been in a great long time. His meeting of a new friend, a new student, and meeting Kyrea’s family had sent him for a spin. That all was what had caused him to desire closer ties and more interaction and ultimately, what had him invite Sky into the tower. He had grown, in the last week or so, to long for more in his life. He had lived a great long time in relative solitude, and was just then starting to see what he needed most to add to his life. Sky was his oldest and closest friend, and now that he was wanting more from life, he had started to wonder what he had in his age old friend as well.
“I agree.” Titus added as he stood up as well. “We do need to all stay closer than we have. I know there’s a lot more to the world than the order, and there are no immediate dangers calling us together, but it’s truly a shame that we all have drifted apart. After all that we have all been through, and after all the things that we all have done for each other through more trying times, it’s even a wonder that we have drifted so far apart. We all share a bond that is tighter than what we are and what we do. We all have fought side by side for hundreds of years. That’s far more than anyone else in the world can say for any of their friends, and yet people all around are tighter knit than we are.” As Titus spoke, all the men nodded solemnly in agreement. “I have no doubt that at any moment, any one of us would jump to the others’ aid if ever it were needed, and by the look of the world now, I think it just might, but I think it’s sad, tragic in fact, that we don’t all spend more time together.”
Titus in his new found longing for life had finally pulled himself to say something he had been thinking for a great long time. It had suddenly occured to him that in all his frustration and dissapointment, he hadn't been showing his old friends, or his new ones, the guidance that they deserved. He was the master mage, by far the oldest of them and through all that time of peace, he had obviously not been the leader that he had been in tougher times. He should have been dissapointed in himself all that time more than he was in the order, but he only just realized it then and by then, he was more ambitious and hopeful for the future as he felt he was regaining his stride.

Sky turned towards him as he spoke and she watched him as he continued to speak. He was speaking from his heart this time and not his head, something he had not done in a very long time and this had Sky biting her lower lip for several moments before she realized she was doing so and let it go before she did any damage. She looked around at the faces in the room as he spoke as well, each and every one of them intent on his every word, they seemed almost astonished by what they were hearing at first, but it didn’t take them long to understand his full meaning either. She could see it in their expressions, the smiles that dawned on their faces and the nods of their heads in agreement to what their Master was talking about.
The little Mage stood back for the time being, her eyes brimmed with tears as she continued to watch and listen. Though she never actually shed a tear, as she then smiled at Titus and then the others. “I’ll drink to that.” She said quietly and raised her milk to them all, then drank before turning now to Titus and offering him perhaps the most uncertain of smiles. It was mixed with emotions from happy to caring and even wanting to be playful, she honestly did have a problem with these things and was not going to throw a joke out there this time however to try and cover anything she might feel, so she just let it all feel at once.
“You couldn’t be more right Titus.” She said quietly after a few moments of collecting herself, her dark orbs searching his as she spoke. “I couldn’t have put it any better myself.” She continued seriously and still quietly. This outpour of emotion coming from the man in front of her was something she’d wanted to see for a long time and for the moment, she was actually at a loss for words. So, she simply walked over and gave him a hug instead, laying her head on his chest and squeezing him tight. Then she turned to the others.
“So what do you think?” She questioned. “And I’m not talking about me moving to the hundredth floor.” She grinned at them all. “Besides, I can always take a walk up there when I want now easily enough without your knowing.” She winked at them and then allowed a small laugh.

Titus wrapped his arms around Sky in return and hugged her tightly. The men all smiled at Sky’s remark, not one of them shying away from a smirk that time. “It’s true.” Ivan said first with a nod that matched everyone else’s.
“I agree.” Another, Lyle added.
“Of course it is.” Shauna chipped in from the steps. She had come back up the steps to check on the snacks and maybe snag some herself. She was the one who kept every floor in supply of fruits and other snacks. She hadn’t expected to be walking into a heart to heart up there, and had stopped just shy of the ninety-ninth floor when she heard Titus talking and listened. “We’ve all just taken each other for granted for a while now. I say we start having some shindigs in the foyer. What’s the point of that level otherwise?” she added as she stepped up onto the level with everyone else.
“Thank you all.” Titus said when he released Sky from his arms. “I really do love you, and really am proud of you. Thank you for being here, for helping us today, and for listening to an old man spill his heart. I truly do appreciate you all.”

Sky winked at the girl and nodded. “Ya, maybe we should at that.” She agreed wholeheartedly. “Get us all hammered a night a week and see what doesn’t bur down.” She giggled almost uncontrollably for a moment and then shook her head and gave a fake cough. “Err, that is to say, that yes, we should get together down there more often, I say we just do it, tonight will be the first.” She stated and giving her head a quick nod to them all to seal the fact that she meant it, even if she did make the joke. “Thanks Shauna.” She then added, and of course, we will have to get others up here as well, we honestly have spread ourselves too thin, heck I don’t even know every Mage out there any longer and we still get more moving into the city all the time.” She continued. “We really should do something about that too.” She finished. “After all, we all started our friendship someplace, and old friends should make new friends as well, would you not all agree?” she raised a brow at them.
She then turned and walked over to the first table where she’d started and laid a hand on the books and ran it over a few spines then dropped it back at her side. “Now honestly, we do have something to finish here, and it seems we are all in agreement and I hope, we will stick to it, we all deserve more than what we’ve been giving ourselves the last hundred years or more.” She finished and paused before smiling again at them all until her eyes reached Titus.
Sky paused for a moment, her dark onyx orbs searching his for a moment. There was something else it seemed his mind was working on. She knee him well enough to know he had something else clunking around in the huge brain of his and though she didn’t have a clue as to what it was, she was certain she’d get it out of him sooner or later. She then simply offered him a warm smile as she always did and sighed.

Titus laughed at Sky’s little jest, though not nearly as hard as she. He simply found her adorable, as always, and couldn’t help but smile and laugh at the cue little things she always seemed to do. “Wonderful idea ladies.” Titus added with a nod and wide smile. “Shauna as always, you’re as ingenious and helpful as you are beautiful.” He then took the last drink of his ale and settled the bottle into his emptying basket.
“It’s true too, we do have some work to finish, so let’s have at it and tonight, we’ll get everyone together.” He smiled again at everyone, then back at Sky, where his eyes remained for a few moments before he reached for some books and picked them up. “Maybe I’ll have another couple kegs ordered in and some catered dinner for tonight. Everyone round up everyone else alright?” he added, and then asked with a happy, warm smile as he walked passed them all to the steps.
