Profession
Shadow Mage/Assassin
Age

Likes
Money, Drink, Money, work, Money, playing with knives, Money, sharpening her blade and the sound of steel being released from its restraint, and did I mention Money?
Dislikes
Being bored, not having a job, thieves, fish, being broke, Magic training, would rather train in swords and her fighting skills, dusty old men Who smell like thousand year old rags and stale ale. Condescendence of any kind.
Weapons/fighting knowledge
Alara has spent 55 years of study in the martial arts and as well a good 45 in swordsmanship including throwing knives and daggers, though her main studies have been in use with the Katana. She caries with her at all times many different weapons, ranging from simple blow darts to her Katana, which usually includes poisons and daggers and throwing knives, Shuriken and other assorted tools.
Magic
Though Shadow Mage, really the only power she has done any work on is becoming one with the shadows around her and is able to conjure a shadow orbs, but this is really useless for anything other than twirling about on her fingers for amusement. The total time spent in shadow training has been a short 20 years, as stated, she has no desire to use her magic abilities beyond what she already knows of it, her desires are far more to the weapons and fighting areas, she simply likes her sharp weapons far to much to put them away.
Appearance
Alara is very athletic and strong she stands 5’7” tall with long black hair. She has green eyes and usually wears eyeliner, but seldom much other makeup. She wears clothing that matches what she needs to be for any particular assignment. Though is free most the time to wear her assassin’s gear on many assignments involving the underworld of treachery.
Personality
Alara is not an evil person; she just has a dirty job. One that has allowed her to use her sharp toys in a manner for what they were designed to do is all, and do her job well, she does. Though being able to walk inside the shadows has helped her greatly, she very seldom uses that ability, as she is a sort of thrill seeker as well. She can be nice, even friendly at times, at others, cold and very detached and has no problem with being rude to people if needed.
History
Alara was born in Celesta born and left on the steps of a poor fisherman’s doorstep. She never knew who her real parents were and she never tried to find out. The Fisherman, though like stated was very poor, he wasn’t evil or mean to the girl, he was actually quite a good father to her. He took her in, and gave her everything he could offer, which really wasn’t much and in return, she put a smile on the man’s kind and weathered face day and night again for the first ten years of her life.
When she was 5 he had carved for her a wooden sword to play with on the docks when he would be working, weaving nets together to the large fishing ships, mending them or beginning a new one all together. Though he was far too old to go out anymore, his love of the sea kept him close and he lived on the docks above a small shop for doing just this. The pay was never much, and he seldom sold any new nets, mostly he made what few coins he got from his weaving. Alara would spend hours fighting anything and everything she could with that wooden blade, even got into great battles with some of the sailors as they passed through, well, in her mind she had at any rate.
At age seven, she started showing interest in throwing items such as sharp rock at the door of the shop and would giggle any time she was able to get them to stick. Inevitably though, she always went back to her now, well used wooden sword., dashing about slashing the air and tumbling on the floor. At the end of any given day she was always covered in dirt. And the old man would draw her a bath and wait patiently for her to go and use it, telling her each time that the water only got colder the longer she put it off. Of course, she would put up a fight about it, bathing meant she had to put away her toys and begin studies. But eventually, after taking a few cold baths, she decided it was better to do as she was told and get it over with.
The old man, Grault was his name, though dad was his name to her, made sure the girl knew how to read and write, something his father had made sure he knew how to do, but that was as far as his teachings would go as he wasn’t too educated himself, just enough to get by.
It was when she was nine that she lost her father she had grown to love so much. He had passed away in his sleep, and she was taken away form the docks and placed in a family who lived in the area known as Suburbia in town. The family was kind enough, though the father always seemed to be quiet and contemplative and was seldom home at night. Another year moved on and her new father had noticed her interest in swords and as well the fire for fighting she had and he, being a Master Marshal artist as well an accomplished Assassin, began her training.
It was in her teen years that he noticed something else in her, took notice in how well she was able to adapt to the darkness, not being any sort of magic user himself, he passed it off a simply good on her part. She was going to be a great Assassin, this he had no doubt, for her love of training and seemingly above average ability as disappearance, he saw no reason for her not to begin work with him on a few of his smaller jobs. Thus began her introduction to her currant profession.
A few years passed by and then a few more and it wasn’t long before Alara was made a full member of the local Assassin’s guild, though still there was that one point that had begun to bother her and that was her ability to sink into the shadows. She went to the library and looked though books still found nothing of help and soon found herself in a conversation with an accomplished Mage who immediately told her what was going on. After however she found out what an ordeal it was to perfect her power, she soon gave it up. It didn’t take more than a short twenty years, in which time and during that study, the passing of her father came and went as well, her mother from some flue or the like and she was on her own for good now, an adult making a living doing what she desired.
She continues to work as an Assassin in Celesta and more than likely always will. Though not Assassin Queen or any title such as that, she is one of the highest paid and within the guild, well known, outside, one of the most elusive
