Name Surreal SaDiablo
Race Necromancer
Profession (If human) Bartender
Age 24
Likes Drinking lots of alcohol, acting tougher than she is, making people think she is menacing
Dislikes Darkness-she is trying hard not to be corrupted by the power she holds
Weapons/fighting knowledge (If used) A sword she imbued herself, and she knows how to use a bow, although she’s a terrible shot
Magic (If used) The power from the grave. She’s particularly good at getting dead animals to be her pets.
Appearance (A good description of what your character looks like, we want more than simply ‘see avi’) Surreal has dark brown hair and black eyes. She’s 5’7” tall, and rather thin with a slight amount of curves. She always has a sickly pale complexion, although she does what she can with make up to try to make herself look less sickly and more like a work of art. Her lips are always a pale blue, and her eyes always masked behind heavy black eyeliner, lots of mascara, and heaps of blue glitter. Without makeup, she looks like she’s in the middle of the worst flu she’s ever had.
History (A complete history of your character from time was little to present day. We want to know why your character chose their path in life, how they discovered their magic (If applicable) or otherwise special talent. Who were their parents? (We will NOT except things such as ‘past unknown’) If you want you characters past to be unknown to them, then state, this is unknown to the character, or something like that. Everyone has a past, just because they don’t know it, doesn’t mean you don’t know it.) Surreal was born Shiki Salai to parents Nukei Salai and Amnoi Salai in one of the smallest islands off the coast of Celesta. Her tribe of Zsi-non are particularly connected with the dead and believe the dead can not only rise, but influence life from beyond the grave. All the dead are sent out to sea so that they may not be used by any of the Zsi-non against each other. After they are set out, the tribe worship them and pray for their good influence in their lives.
Surreal, or Shiki, as she was known at home, was the only one of the tribe born with the skin of the dead. To her tan tribe-members she was an anomaly and became worshiped as death-child. Because the dead were all washed out to see, neither Surreal nor the tribe knew of her ability to raise the dead and she grew up peacefully. She had no siblings for her mother was barren after giving birth to her, and the children of the tribe avoided the death-child, so much of her time was spent at home helping her parents with household chores. Her father taught her what he knew of swordplay, but their swords were crude and weighted terribly. Their bows were also so horrible that Surreal never learned proficiency in the bow.
When Surreal turned 16 her home was raided. Pirates took what little treasures there were on the island, including Surreal, who was the palest human child they had ever seen. The rest of the Zsi-non were killed and the island paradise burnt to the ground. When the pirates next laid port in Celesta, they spent a month selling off their goods. It was at this time that Surreal learned swordplay with the Pirates. They allowed her to learn because they found the little savage amusing. One fated night, the Pirates went to a graveyard to wish some of their dead comrades a goodbye. It was this night that Surreal unwittingly took her revenge. In front of her horrified eyes, decaying ravens descended upon the Pirates, tearing them apart.
One raven came to Surreal and she braced herself for pain, but it landed on her shoulder as dignified as can be and stared with one eye over the massacre. Surreal shuddered at the sight of him, for Rave, as she would name him after learning the language of Celesta, was missing one side of his skull and his brains were a sallow yellow in the moonlight.
The ravens led Surreal to town, where she went door to door trying to find someone to take her in. It was in a small tavern that she found a home. The barkeep showed her his tricks and she tended tables in exchange. Over time the little savage learned the new language and became the mascot of the tavern. By her twentieth birthday she was tending bar and greeting the regulars with a familiar smile. One matron even showed her how to apply makeup to her face and took her well-being very seriously. She was the one who suggested Surreal take a new name, one that fit the time.
Because Surreal’s history was so vague, she chose the word surreal to describe herself. With grim satisfaction she named herself SaDiablo for her demonic power with birds. On her twenty first birthday, Surreal moved into the main city of Celesta where she set up with the local barkeep. A necromancer recognized her for what she was one night and began to train her to raise more than dead birds, and to do so at will. By her twenty-fourth birthday, Surreal was openly acknowledged in the necromance community as a talented individual. (THIS NEXT PART IS ONLY VALID AFTER APPROVAL): They did not, however, realize that Surreal was a Master. She had secretly studied necromancing on her own time and had imbued a sword with unholy runes and power. She had raised the dead with nothing but a thought, and had such true knowledge of necromancing that she heard secrets, whispers from the grave.
Her sword (I will attempt to photoshop a picture later) is imbued with runes: is os hæ3l æsc man which translates to: Ice Mouth Hails Ash Man
