“Oh, ever?” Titus exclaimed excitedly. Ever was a big word, especially for a mage. “Ever has been a long time my dear, a very long time for you.” She was young to him, but Titus still acknowledged Sky’s longevity. She was in fact, one of the eldest mages still around. So many had fallen, though of course there were still enough others older than she scattered about the world.
Titus was enthusiastically happy that Sky was holding that day on such a high regard. It meant very good things for the day and only served to make the day better for him as well.
“And yes dear I know you too.” He then added with a light and loving chuckle. “You are too cute at times. Far too cute and far too rambunctious.” It was true too, Sky was quite a trouble maker sometimes. Though Titus would never condone some of the things that Sky tended to do, he usually laughed inwardly at the sight or the stories.

Sky meant what she said and she turned her head and looked up from her tea for a moment and her dark orbs sparked slightly. “Yes, ever.” She repeated, confirming she truly did mean what she had said. She then returned to her tea, sipping happily enough from the straw that was propped inside the cool liquid.
After she laughed at his ‘rambunctious’ comment and nudged him playful with her shoulder. “So long as you still love me, that’s all that matters.” She winked at him through her small laughter fit. It didn’t take her long to recover however though, and she gave him an all too innocent look. “I mean, after all, I am still just a little girl at heart.” She then added with big puppy eyes. “Besides, it never REALLY gets anyone hurt, perhaps a little pride that’s really all.” She then stated, turning again to take a sip of her tea. And then winced. “Oh ya, well, I guess the cattle stampeded a few years back MIGHT have gotten a little out of hand.” She then admitted and then looked up at him innocently again. “But honestly, I still swear that it wasn’t all my fault that time, there was that kid, he helped.” She then stated and then turned and taking a sip from her tea, looked up with her eyes only at Titus.

Titus laughed at Sky’s tale. “You are far too cute young lady.” He said enthusiastically, wrapping an arm around her and giving her a squeeze. “I hope you never grow up dear, it would be a crying shame to lose the childlike joy in your heart. It’s an attribute I admire greatly young lady, and I’ll have you know I look to you for inspiration.” Titus kissed the top of Sky’s head and then released the tight squeeze he had her in but kept his arm around her. “I can’t condone the cattle though.” He added with a laugh as he lifted his cup of tea again and then took a sip.
Two mean walked passed the table where Titus and Sky were sitting and they both stared down at Sky as they walked by. Titus saw them looking and simply looked up at them and smiled knowingly. He was proud to be sitting there with his arm around his beautiful old friend. It was a feeling he had always had, but that was growing far larger in the last couple days. By the time the men were passed, Titus looked back down to the table, took the last sip of his tea and put the empty cup on the edge of the table; he would like another.
“We will need to keep people from heading up the tower tonight when they are too drunk to safely handle books.” Titus began, thinking again of the night ahead. “We don’t want anyone spilling anything or in any way damaging any of those. That would be a terribly shame.” Who ever knew what a drunken mage might do in a tower full of book? The possibilities were literally limitless, even beyond the obvious spilling, puking, and fumbling.

Sky laughed along with him at the cattle thing until he stated he couldn’t condone them when she turned the laugh into a giggle. “Oh, of course not.” She responded to his statement of disapproval, but the entire time, she still held her joyful smile as she took another sip from her tea. When he’d put his arm around her and gave her that a squeeze she smiled all that much more, and when he didn’t remove his arm, she simply scooted in closer to him and finished off her tea then slid it next to his cup, she wanted more too. There was plenty of time still for the two of them to sit quietly and talk over their tea. “Really?” She then stated, to his telling of how she inspired him. She honestly had no idea she did, this was new to her and she suddenly felt very proud of herself in that moment, that meaning a lot to her as he had always inspired her for a great many reasons.
When the guys past them and looked at her, she paid them no notice, but did indeed notice that Titus did, and she smiled. For some reason, the fact that he did notice them, made her feel warm and she snuggled against him for a moment and simply smiled contentedly. She then looked up at him and though said nothing, gave him a warm smile that had none of her usual joking in it and then watched the waitress approach to ask if they wanted more drinks.
“Yes please.” She turned around and stated to the girl. “Can I get a lemon with this one too though, please.” She added, looking for something a bit different, but still wanting the same thing all at once.
“Yes we should find a way to block them off from the books, that is a very good idea.” She then stated with a sort of worried tone all of a sudden, her mannerisms turning professional in the second it took for the reasoning behind that statement to sink in. “Oh indeed it would be a shame, and there’d be no one to really blame but ourselves for allowing it to happen, so yes, yes we need to block them from access for the night. Perhaps on our way up for our bottle of wine, we could shield it.” She said with a nod as she looked up at him again and smiled now once more. “Should have put doors in there a long time ago.” She laughed. “Would have made this so much easier.” She stated with a wink.

Titus didn’t say anything; only smiled warmly and profoundly and nodded his head at Sky about the fact that she inspired him. She held a youthful vigor that he had lost long ago, if in fact he had ever had it. Titus sometimes wondered if he ever was that playful even as a child. Life even then had always had its seriousness about it, with the insecurity and instability in the village’s life.
To the waitress, Titus again only smiled and nodded for his replacement of tea. He wasn’t ready to do all the thinking it would take him to decide on a new beverage to drink so he stuck with the same one. He was sometimes far too enthusiastic about new things, making it difficult to decide which to select. There always were a great deal many new things after all, even for a man who had lived longer than the history of the world could tell.
“When I had the tower built all that time ago dear, for knowledge and hope, I certainly was not thinking of drunken parties in the foyer.” Titus laughed as he finished explaining the obvious lack of doors upward from the front foyer of the tower. “But a think a shield should do quite fine.” He added, thinking about the fact he would have to bend his own rule of no magic in the tower. There were specific points within the tower, away from any books where he did allow the practice of course, so the stairwell from the first floor which had no books would be a rational exception.

Sky shook her head slowly and then elbowed him again playfully. “Well, of course you weren’t, though one would have thought you’d been thinking of the possibility that a fire Mage could loose control at some point and you just might have had to block the corridors off or something?” she laughed. She liked to tease him and though of course, she knew he’d be able to handle something as simple as a fire alert with no problems she still just had to say something. “And of course it will, we’ll let you put it up though, wouldn’t want to fry anyone with what I’d come up with after all.” Though she was serious about it, still she giggled at the fleeting thought of some drunk Mage getting zapped from one of her shields.
The waitress came back at that point and left them their drinks on the table. “Thanks.” She told the girl and then smiled as she left.
Sky sipped quietly on her drink for a few moments then, just thinking about the night ahead of them, a small smile permanently pasted on her kips the entire time. This was going to be a good night, she could feel it and now, with the threat to the books taken care of and the food and drinks all figured out, truly there was nothing else to do but sit happy with Titus for a while longer before heading back to her old apartment to take a shower and get ready for the fun.

Titus laughed at his old friend’s jeers, and began to sip at his newly refilled tea while nodding in thanks to the waitress. “That has not bitten us hindsight my dear and after as long as we’ve been looking after the tower, I don’t think it will ever be a real problem.” Obviously Sky had been teasing, but he had to answer the call. She was a little devil’s advocate and he couldn’t just ignore her attempts at a teasing conversation.
The only doors that had ever been placed in the great tower were the enormous front doors into the tower. None of the levels, not even the hundredth had been blocked off, though no one who wasn’t supposed to be up there ever was. “We should maybe have a door put in under the ninety-ninth floor now though.” He stated, thinking as he continued to sip his tea with his arm still around his dear old friend. “We wouldn’t want the move to steal your privacy away.” He added honestly, only just then realizing the one potential flaw in Sky’s relocation. Titus had always been a very open person and no matter the conditions, he felt perfectly comfortable with someone walking into his room. He couldn’t expect Sky to that way though, and he grinned as he thought; she was a wonderful treasure to behold, and should definitely be allowed her privacy.

Sky grinned at his response to her jest and then took another drink from the tea in front of her before looking around the café again. She was taking in the pictures that hang on the walls and even some of the other art that lined the shelves here or there, all both appropriate and pleasing to the eyes. She then returned her lips to the straw and took another drink form her beverage and then leaned back against Titus as they sat there conversing about the tower.
“Yes, I think that might just be a good idea, as you may not mind so much someone walking in on you when you’re getting dressed, I do have a difference in opinion there.” She looked up at him and smiled. “After all, what’s mine is mine to show off to whom I want, not to have gazed upon by whom ever so shall wish to.” She then added with a small giggle. “And I am certain I have a few followers that would be gracing the tower just for that purpose…” She then trailed off and started to giggle again. “But then again, could be good for bringing them in more often.” She then burst out laughing at the thought and then stopped quickly. “No, no that was just a joke.” She said, looking up at him. “A door is a great idea.” She said and smiled.

Titus smiled as Sky leaned against him and then raised his brows in agreement to the fact that her body was in fact hers to conceal, which had been his point exactly. He was also agreeing to the fact that many men would frequent the top floors in hopes of catching a glance. Sky was a beautiful woman after all, and all men, even mages are dogs; in a manner.
“Of course my dear.” He confirmed assuredly with a smile and a warm and happy voice at the end of a light chuckle to his friend’s joke. “Your discretion is not something I would ever wish to sacrifice even for the attendance it would draw in the high tower. We will have a door installed by morning.” Titus paused then and raised a brow in thought. “Make that afternoon tomorrow.” He continued with a slight laugh. “We should let the boys sleep in.”
Titus paused again in thought and laughed once more lightly and then gave Sky a kiss on the top of her head as she leaned against him. “We could install a door above your steps as well, so I don’t intrude either.” He said, realizing that his room would be on the other side of her door. “You could lock me away in the high tower and deny me passage or tithe my way out.” He added as a joke.

Sky giggled at his jest as to her locking him away anywhere. “As if I could lock you away anywhere you didn’t want to be love.” She stated and then laughed again. “But yes, that is a good idea, that way you could at least knock before entering, so as not to catch me in mid change or something of that sort.” She agreed. “Of course, It might put a damper on your visits from Kyrea, though I doubt a simple thing like a door could keep her out of places, and I don’t mind her using my room to pass through, she is after all, a girl too.” She smiled, turning her head so that he could see her do so. “Besides, that might be the only way I will ever get the chance to at least meet the woman.” She added and then took another small sip from her tea.
She thought a moment about the time of day for adding a door to her room and then giggled with that one too. “Oh yes, I am certain the guys would not be in the best of moods should we wake them too early, might just make if late afternoon, I still have to move some things up there any way.” She added as she continued to lean against him and sip slowly on her iced tea, her straw lazily chasing the lemon around in her glass now as she swirled it around and around.

Titus sipped his tea while he listened to Sky speak. He grinned at her musing inability to lock him away, but silently agreed at the decision she had made. It had been exactly why he brought it up in the first place, not that he wouldn’t enjoy a glimpse.
“I’m certain you will have plenty of opportunity to meet Kyrea my dear.” Titus said warmly. “I haven’t been hiding her from you, you know. I have only just met the woman after all. We haven’t had much time to meet the friends and family.”
There wasn’t too much time left in the day, so the two of them would soon have to be making their way back to the tower so they could stop at the caterers’ on the way in time for the gathering. “We will have the doors installed late afternoon tomorrow then.” The master mage confirmed.

Sky nodded shortly and then sat up and finished off her tea before settling the empty container back on the table in front of her. She leaned forward on her elbows and then turned her head and looked up at Titus and smiled.
“Well, I do believe we should be off here soon, we’ve still to stop at the caterers to order the food for the masses.” She ginned as she rocked forward on her elbows and then sat back down again, obviously getting restless again, she was impressed with herself for sitting idly for so long, that was just something she usually found very difficult to do.
She still as well wanted that shower and to change for the nights festivities and all that other girlie stuff that she usually didn’t bother with but felt for some reason, perhaps this being a special occasion, she wanted to. “And I still have to stop at the old place and take a shower and gather a few things before everyone arrives.” She then stated, present smile still in place as always.

“Well enough.” Titus replied with a smile and a nod. “We had best be going, it’s true.” He added, then finished his tea as well and pulled a few coins from his pockets and left them on the table as he stood from his seat and held one hand out to Sky to help her out of the booth.
Titus then picked up the various items that they had bought to carry home for her. There was only one more stop then before getting back to the tower, and Titus planned to march Sky’s things straight up to her new residence on his way up to his own shower.

Sky continued to grin as she took his hand and stood now beside him before once more settling her arm under his as they walked from the café. She looked around when they stepped outside and began to make their way through the market toward the place Titus had decided on earlier in the day, her dark orbs watching people walking about, her hand even twitching from time to time in a natural response to wanting to ‘motivate’ or otherwise disrupt some of the stuffier people she watched move through the streets.
“Oh they just get under my skin sometimes.” She commented and then laughed as they made their way through the streets. “But I promise to be good.” She then added with an innocent look up at him. Sky leaned her head against his shoulder and squeezed his arm tightly for a second and then loosened her grip as she giggled.
She sometimes felt like such a little girl and simply couldn’t help herself, but that was just who she was. She could be serious and respectful at one moment and then simply do something that made no sense at all to anyone but herself at the time, then when she looked back at what she’d done, she felt a little guilt, but that never lasted too long, it was part of who she was and she’d learned to live with it a very long time ago.

“I know dear.” Titus replied, laughing lightly at his old friend’s old habits. He had known her very well for a very long time and the woman had never truly changed; he was glad. So many people, especially mages grew to be more rigid and dull over time. Titus Augustus was no exception to the rule, except that he had always been a little bit of a stiffer board to begin with. He relaxed and joked around for sure, but Sky was truly a child at heart; full of joy and youthful vigor and imagination. Titus truly did admire that trait about his old friend, and had always found it refreshing to see, especially in a mage and one as old as she. The only problem was that her amusement was often at someone else’s expense.
“I’m sure you’ll have plenty of fun at the party tonight with all our drunken comrades.” The old master mage said with a grin. Of course he would have some fun too; he wasn’t too stiff for that.
