Kyrea, still with a smile on her lips looked up at him and gave him a silent quick nod in return for his last statement. Though truly, she wanted him to have it and as well, this one, she would allow him to keep as far away from her as she could get it.
They walked out of the diner and back out into the sun, her dark blue orbs adjusting to the graying sky as they moved, his hand on her lower back a welcome comfort in her moment of chill.
On the way, they spoke more on what they had been discussing in the diner and upon arriving at the gates to her home, she paused and turned to him, was just about to say something when a small boy came running up to greet but stopped when his eyes landed on Kyrea’s company. The boy turned on his heal and ran back toward a smaller house settled in the shade not all too far away from the gate that now opened up before them yelling, “Daddy, mommy! It’s Aunt Kyrea and she has a man with her!” The small voice rang out.
Kyrea laughed at the sight as they stepped through the iron fence and it closed behind them. “That of course would be Jessie, son of Drannis and Lilly.” She told Titus as she turned towards the small house under the shade.
Shortly the hulking man that Titus would know as Drannis came walking out with a large friendly smile on his face and beside him was a very pretty woman, taller and well built with long blonde locks and a shining smile that matched the sun itself but in the lead of course, was the small boy from a moment ago who, before Drannis or his wife had even come within range to talk properly, had thrown himself up and into Kyrea’s arms with his tiny hands clasped about her neck and his wiry legs wrapped about her waist he gave her a great big kiss on the lips and then eyed Titus with a look that told him he meant to defend his aunt if he had to.
“Well hello Jessie.” Kyrea laughed and then saw him look at Titus. “This is Master Titus and I think you can relax he mean me no harm love.” She told the boy as she continued to hold the little boy in her arms.
Drannis and Lilly came walking up then and Drannis inclined his head toward Titus in welcome and his wife smiled warmily at him. “You of course know Drannis.” Kyrea then stated. “And this, is Lilly.” She added as the woman offered him her hand in greeting with a warm smile.
“Hello, pleased to meet you, I’ve heard a lot about you from Kyrea, it is always nice to finally have a face for such a warmly thought of man.” She told him in a soft voice.

Titus enjoyed the walk, and the conversation even more. He smiled as they arrived at the manor and a young boy ran towards them. He laughed light heartedly at the child’s reaction to his presence and smiled warmly at the family that came out to greet them.
“Hello Drannis.” He said warmly, smiling at the family. “Hello Lilly, and Jessie.” He continued, smiling warmly at each of them and then concentrated on the young boy. “I definitely mean your aunt no harm.” He said to the boy. “I fear she would kick my butt anyways.” He added jokingly with a wink to the child.
Titus didn’t make Lilly wait long for his hand; only enough for him to properly meet the boy who clung to Kyrea. He felt rude even making her wait those couple seconds. “It’s my pleasure to meet you all.” Titus returned. “Word moves fast it seems, as I’ve heard of you all as well through her lovely excellence.”
The whole family looked to be a happy one. It was good to see such a warm and close connection between them all. Titus was truly glad for each of them, as he knew they could rely on each other and that they all obviously loved each other. A family like that was something Titus had always admired.

Kyrea gave Jessie a squeeze than then set him down on the ground where the boy turned and looked up at Titus and then to his mom and dad and back again to Titus, this time the boy smiled at him.
“Ok, you seem good.” He stated shortly but friendly enough all the same. “Maybe we could go fishing some time?” He asked. “Dad is a good fisherman and he’s even got a huge pole that I get when I grow up.” He continued, obviously warming up to Titus as the family seemed to be relaxed around this new person in their midst.
Lilly smiled at her son and laid a hand on his small shoulder. “Yes, word does travel fast around here, one would have to be deaf not to understand the amazing fondness and trust you have gained in our little Queen.” She replied with a wink towards Kyrea, which was returned with a short laugh from the small Queen.
Drannis looked at Kyrea, he knew she would have a reason for coming home so early and it wasn’t just to introduce his family to Titus, though he was grateful she had. He then raised a brow at her and turned slightly behind him then back at the Queen with a questioned look.
“Not now Drannis, perhaps later, no sense in waking them early, they will be cranky enough later as it is.” She told him and he nodded once in response.
“He wants you to get to know the hounds, just incase you happen to want to have a visit sometime.” Kyrea explained, laying a hand on his arm. “But for now, I think just to take him inside the manor to show him around a bit before it gets too late.” She said, again with a smile.

Titus smiled at the young boy. He was warming up fast. “I’m sure we can go fishing.” He said kindly. “It’s been a long time since I have been.” He added. Fishing had never been interesting enough to pull Titus away from his studies, but socializing wasn’t something he often got to do. That then, would be the point in fishing with the boy. Titus never had much of a life, and he hoped that maybe this new friend of his was introducing him to one. “I’m sure I haven’t fished since before the great piers were built.” The master mage added as an after thought, realizing just then how long it had really been. He never thought of it before that. The piers of course had been built a very long time before, as they were critical in the foundation of the city Celesta.
“I have noticed,” Titus replied to Lilly with the same warm smile as before. “Though I’m not sure I’ve yet proven myself.” He continued humbly, though honestly. The faith Kyrea had been placing in him was incredible. “I am honored.” He said with a slight bow to Kyrea.
He smiled at Drannis for his concern, then at Kyrea as well. “I can get around the hounds if I need to.” He said calmly to Drannis and Kyrea both, though he said it looking at Drannis. Touring the manor was exciting to Titus. The vampire culture was a terribly secluded one to any humans, and he was getting every avenue of insight into it. What an amazing opportunity it all was for him.

Drannis inclined his head to the little Queen and then to Titus in return before laying a hand on his son’s shoulder as well and looking down at him fondly. “Ok dad.” Jessie stated with a sigh. “It was nice to meet you Mr. Titus and we don’t have to take the girls with us either.” He said and then gave his mom and Kyrea a smirk.
“Well, then you can clean the fish you do catch yourself.” His mother winked at him. “Well, I am glad to have met you Titus, I think though that perhaps the two of you had best be off to the castle, and I still have to try and get this one…” She looked down at her son. “Into the tub.” She finished and then Jessie looked crankily up at his mom then laughed and with a small giggle turned and dashed off toward the house, looking behind him one to wave at Titus and Kyrea in farewell. “I hope we will have more opportunity in the future to talk, now you two go off and do whatever it was you were off to, the day grows short.” She told them both before turning to chase after her son.
Drannis stepped forward then and extended a hand to Titus giving him an almost apologetic look at the abrupt farewell he’d received from his family, but was as well, certain Titus would understand. Kyrea took a couple steps forward at the same time he offered his hand and put her small arms around his hulking form and then stepped away and waited for Titus to give his farewell to the large man before she would take him to her home that loomed in the distance up the long gravel drive.

Titus laughed at the boy. Seeing such youth and spunk was almost rejuvenating to the multiple millennia old man. He often enough saw the youthful vigor and joy of children in the streets on his regular walks about town, but this boy, Jessie was one Titus would get to interact with and surely, he would learn from the boy. There were things in life that a grown mind simply could not comprehend like in the manner of a small child.
He laughed at the boy again for the tub ordeal, and waved at him as he ran off to the house. “I’m glad too.” Titus said quickly to Lilly as she was turning to leave. He could only imagine the hustle and bustle of a family life. He had never had one after all, but he knew he must have been a hassle to someone when he was a child. He could remember slipping out under the sides of the tent when he was supposed to be sleeping. He also knew he used to sneak into tents he shouldn’t have been in, and would cause a lot of noise where it was a disturbance.
Titus took Drannis’ hand in his and nodded his head to him. “Don’t worry good sir,” he told him with a smile, “your wonderful family obviously has matters to be tended. I look forward to seeing you all again next time.”

Drannis smiled at Titus and then turned and walked back toward his home, happy in the fact that he’d seen Kyrea brought home safely, even if he did trust Titus, he still preferred to be at her side during her outings and he chuckled to himself at the thought that Titus actually could even do a better job than he at protecting the small girl, but still, to him it was a personal matter.
Kyrea watched the huge man walk away for a moment but then turned and smiled at Titus, her dark blue orbs sparkling with delight at the meeting of her family. As odd as it may have seemed at times for a vampire to have an actual entire human family living and well she was proud of them. The sparkle in her eyes extended to a kind of glow about her entire being that betrayed her pride, but she didn’t mind, she truly was proud.
“And so there you have it, my lovely family.” She smiled at him and then turned toward the gravel drive and began walking up the way to the enormous manor; mansion really was what one would call it.
They walked along the path and Kyrea looked up towards her home and sighed. “The Shaw Estate.” She started, her tone all high class and uppity, though in a mocking manner. “What a pleasure it must be for you to be welcome to such an important house sir.” She giggled as she hooked her arm in his. ‘You know…” She started then in a more serious note. “I don’t think there was a night gone by when I was growing up here, that my parents didn’t have a party of some sort here.” She noted and then rolled her eyes. “Always about who was who and what you were supposed to be. Boorish lot really, all of them it was no wonder their only daughter decided to run away with the wrong sort.” She shook her head. “Oh well, at least I have had the opportunity to see and meet so many wonderful things and people, and imagine, if I hadn’t…” She sighed. “I wouldn’t be here now and would have never had the chance to know you.” She gave his arm a little squeeze and smiled up at him as they approached the stair leading up to the doors.
The front entrance to the Mansion was huge, the porch spread out and moved along the entire front of the place and then around towards the back, great marble pillars held up the roof that covered the entire massive porch. There were windows that lined the entire front of the place, huge that extended from the top of the first floor to the bottom and stretching out just as long. These of course were now covered in heavy dark curtains, though one could imagine a time when they were left open, perhaps with lacy curtain not so heavy to keep the sun from entering as they were now. Considering how old the home was, it was very well maintained and still held a certain pride all its own.
As the pair stepped onto the front porch and walked to the huge doors, they swung open immediately to admit them into the Foyer. This was a huge room with a single oak staircase spiraling upwards to the second floor, everything was polished and shown as if brand new and the entire room smelled of flowers. Upon looking around at the many tables and bookcases that lined the walls one could see why.
Fresh flowers settled in large and small vases on any one of the many tables and even between the many books as book ends, these ones in silver vases with intricate designs etched into them, flowers of all kinds, almost as if the Foyer had been made into a sort of garden. There were even great planters that settled on the floor in corners and hanging from the walls, in these however was a variety of plants and small trees even, some of which reached up to almost touch the great vaulted ceiling. There was as well, life sized suits of armor, glistening in different metals and with different coats of arms on the many shields. The furniture in this one room looked comfortable and yet at the same time, not meant for long stays.
Kyrea smiled and then took a deep breath. “Welcome to my home.” She said with a sunny voice as she looked around. “It would seem, my house guests have been plundering the midnight gardens once more.” She smiled. “They are ever so appreciative of their home and I couldn’t be happier with the lot of them right at this point.” She said, her smile growing larger as she allowed her arm to slip from around his to go and smell a vase full of flowers to her right.

“Oh yes I am honored indeed.” Titus returned with a bow of his head in Kyrea’s direction. “Though not by the house, but by its current master. I’ve been invited here many times before, though that was long ago. Don’t forget I’ve been somebody for longer than the city has even been here.” Titus laughed a little at the recognition he felt when they walked up to the great mansion. “I turned down every invite but the first of course, when it tired me to stay even the hour that I did.” Titus shook his head in a mock despair. “Those parties WERE terribly boorish.” He emphasized finally.
“It IS no surprise you ran away after all,” he then added with a greater laugh, “I ran away from here myself, quoting responsibilities at the tower. That was a generation before you though, I believe.” Titus put his arm back around Kyrea’s waist when she slid her arm out from his to smell the flowers. “I’m glad you’re here now or I fear this place would still be boorish. Now I’m excited to be here.”
Titus then looked about the large ballroom at all the flowers and shrubberies that adorned its shelves and tables among all the books which were of course the greatest part about the place. They hadn’t all been there those centuries ago when the master mage had last accepted a visit to the manor. “At least your clan appreciates what they have been given.” He said with a humored smile as he mocked his own order.

Kyrea smiled when he returned to her, putting his arm about her waist as she leaned in to smell the flowers that one of her many houseguests had provided her. And then she laughed at his response to her parents’ parties and how he too had ran away from this place so long ago. She moved now over to one of the huge windows and drew open the heavy coverings to let some light into the room.
“They need a bit of sun from time to time, and there really isn’t much else I can do about it. My…” She paused and looked around the room at all the gifts brought to her last night. “Extended family..” She now referred to them as. “Will just stay out of this area until it grows dark enough for them.” Continued as she walked over to another window and did the same.
“You know..” She started once more on another chain of thought. “I hadn’t thought of you ever being here before, and it wasn’t due to your obvious distaste for the lifestyle of that which had been my family’s but because I forget that you sir, have been around far longer than even I have.” She smiled up at him when she spoke, the sun catching the spark in her clear orbs. “But, on another note once more.” She started. “How do you like what I’ve done to the place?” She asked with a sweep of her arm. “Oh I know my parents would hate it, as it has nothing to do with entertaining people, but what do you think?” She asked in her soft voice as she took him mid and center of the grand Foyer.
Yes she needed to take him someplace in that mansion and she was going to, but suddenly it meant very much to her as to how he liked what the place looked like, or more to the fact, what it felt like. She loved her home, now. Though it had not always been the case. It had been a long time for her return to this dwelling a very long time again before she even cared enough to fix it up to where it stood now. She truly did not like her past human life so much as it had never quite suited her personality. The vampires that resided her all put in their aid to get the place up and running, or that is, a great number of them had at least and so, it turned out to be a hodgepodge of different styles and Kyrea loved it, as it felt like a home and not a palace.

The master mage grinned at the thought of the young lady forgetting his age. He of course could never forget, there was just so much he had lived through to forget about it all. The time since the city Celesta had emerged as a metro populous in fact, had seemed relatively short for his life, less than a third for sure.
“I think it’s wonderful.” Titus replied with a wide smile as he turned slowly in place with his arm around his young friend. “I especially like the addition of books in the main foyer.” He added with an even wider smile and a wink cast at Kyrea. “I think what bothered me the most when I came here last was that even in a mansion this size, your predecessors hadn’t taken space for a library.” Titus shook his head at the thought. “It was always quite a shame. I think I had decided then before I even met the high and mighty attitudes of the estate masters and their guests that this place was a waste.”
Titus continued to look about the room with a broad smile still adorning his lips as he held Kyrea in one arm.” The whole fashion of the place is much nicer now.” He continued, “It is I think, as a home should be now rather than merely the display of wealth and social status it once was.” He paused then, and sort of chuckled lightly. “It seems almost hypocritical of me to be talking down a sign of social status when I reside atop a hundred story pyre that towers ten times above the greatest structures in the world built by man.”
The tower of the mages was a symbol for a number of things. It was meant to be a ray of hope in the world for all to see the massive tower of white magic that would keep them safe against the tyranny of the darker would be oppressors. It was to display to the world that despite the many great and significant advances that man kind was making, there was yet much more to be aspired to. There were few people alive in the world who knew how such a structure was built, and the information was kept only on the highest floor of the tower where the master himself resided. To many, the tower seemed to signify the higher status of the mages, which of course was not what Titus had intended. He wanted people to see that the mages were watching over them all, truly, in service to them. Still, it did seem a certain symbol of status, and it seemed to be ironic at that point in time.

Kyrea hit him on the chest lightly with her hand when he mentioned himself as being hypocritical for living atop that tower. “I would live up there too if I were you, the site, the air, the beauty.. Nope, nothing hypocritical about that at all, it is called taking pleasure in beauty is what that is called.” She told him and smiled as she now began to move them forward and around behind the staircase to a small door that definitely would not have been there when he had last visited.
She pushed the top of the door in dead center with the palm of her right hand and the door clicked and opened up before them and as it did, so did a rush of stale air come washing out from within as if coming from very deep into the earth itself. Torches jumped to life as they approached them, lighting their way as Kyrea brought Titus on to the top of a staircase made of black stone leading down into the darkness.
“This place isn’t the most beautiful of places, but it holds a charm of its own, I think.” She spoke in her usual quiet and soft tone. “It is where I keep the books that make others uncomfortable to be around. Well, make most anyone uncomfortable to be around actually.” She went on. “What I want to give you is perhaps the most evil of tombs one might have the pleasure of reading.” She shivered slightly. “It is at the back of this huge library of evil dictators and dark magic abounds down here, though I am sure I don’t need to tell you, as I am certain you can already feel it, hear them whispering in your ears.” She finished, knowing, like herself, he more than likely could hear their whispers, taunting and trying to lull them to come and lay eyes upon their scriptures.
As they moved along, torches lighting up with every step, bringing light unto the darkness, the lines of shelves became visible. Shelf upon shelf of a collective evil mass all put together as one complete collection. The shelves contained scrolls as well as darkly leather bound tombs, each with a sort of foreboding and almost repulsive feel about them.
“I apologize for the abrupt change in pace, but the day grows short, and I wish to be gone from this place before I change.” She told him as she moved her way down one of the paths between shelves and further towards the back of the room.

“This is the only dungeon I’ve seen in centuries besides the one under palace Celesta.” Titus said admiringly as he peered down the long dark stairwell. The self igniting torches were a wonder to him for no more than a very brief moment. He knew for a fact that it was no fire mage lighting them, but the dungeon its self it seemed.
“It’s been a long while, a good long while,” Titus emphasized the pleasure of time, “since I’ve felt a darkness like this. It is unmistakable, and I’m honestly surprised to be feeling it in no other place than in your mansion Kyrea. I never would have guessed you to be the keeper of such scrolls as would carry their own presence.” The white master mage spoke calmly yet with a degree of concern. Of course he was not relating Kyrea to the evil things of the past, or even surmising that she may be anything other than the sweetly aspiring person that she had seemed to be. It was merely the very existence of the books that were obviously in that dungeon that disturbed him. The fact that their location was no longer a mystery to him though, was one for which he was terribly glad. “It is a relief to me though, that they are here under your guard rather than in some place yet unknown to me where the ever present dark mages would still have access. I’m sure too, that this place its self keeps a good watch on them. Few would dare come here I’m sure.” Titus was still apprehensive of the dungeon’s library he was headed to see, but it was not only the fact that Kyrea wished him to see something in particular that drove him to follow, but he felt that he needed to lay his eyes on the volumes. This was not a draw he was feeling to the darkness, though he would lie if he tried saying, or even thinking that he didn’t sense that. For academic as well as tactical reasons, Titus, the white master mage felt he needed to witness the old black scrolls, even for whatever ones the vampire queen may have in her keeping.
“I understand your hurry Kyrea.” Titus said consolingly to the vampire as they continued down the deep stairs. “I know the root of your race’s nature is, well no offence, dark and demonic. I truly admire your control over that, especially when so many without that influence tend to fall under the strain of it. I imagine that your nightly turn would make resisting the temptations far harder even than the immense draw you must feel from having this power and knowledge so readily at your disposal.” Truly, power does corrupt. To have direct access to such forces would be enough to pull most any person to the darker arts. Titus himself did in fact, feel drawn to them then himself. It truly was an incredible feeling, and it even made the master mage think of how stunning the force of it was. Though he hated the darkness, and would do anything to fight it, he couldn’t help but admire it’s power.

Kyrea did not smile nor did she comment on his words of her nature, as it was truth he spoke and only that. In that truth however was precisely why it was urgent she show him what it was she wished to before her change. The last time she was stuck down in here during her change was the last time she would ever do so again, with any luck of course.
“They are here because when I left he who turned me, I made a decision then that I would collect what I could of the dark rule and vowed to protect them forever from eyes who wished to seek their reference for anything other than understanding.” She told Titus as she approached the back of the room.
As they stepped into the ring of light that now rose up beyond them, casting a red shadow down on what seemed to be a casket, though far to small for any body to be hidden within. It was a tomb though, a tomb for something that Kyrea definitely did not wish to have others look upon.
The small queen moved her hand into her little bag of things that jingled and pulled from it a key. A simple small key with no specific markings or any real distinguishing marks. She inserted that small key into the front of this small tomb and turned it, whispering something quietly as she had.
“EGO to order ut patefacio.” She whispered and the top of the lead tomb slid back to reveal a small box, just larger than the size of what would be a good-sized book. She then reached down and plucked that smaller lead box from its resting place and turned toward Titus with a grim look on her face and opened the top of that smaller box away from her to show him the contents inside. The moment the top was open, a whisper escaped into the air, one word. “Kyrea.” Was all it said.
The book within the lead, mirror lined, casing was of a leather type, though definitely not from an animal, it was quite evident this book had been covered in human skin. There was a darkness that surrounded the book within the case a darkness that seemed almost alive and just to look into the box sent chills down spines. Branded into the books cover was the name Dhakham Apsu. The lettering was blood red the bottoms of the letters looking as if they were dripping blood. Under the name in slightly smaller print was once more branded, King of Vampires and Master Mage. There was a definite darkness about that book a very powerful feeling of death.

"I must commend you for the noble gard you have placed over this knowledge." Titus stated earnestly, though no smile would be on his lips the whole time they were to be in that dungeon. It wasn't only the tormenting draw of darkness and the uneasy feeling it all inevitably left a person with, let alone a mage of such power as Titus; power does corupt after all, as doe absolute power absolutely. The main reason for the white master mage not being willing to smile or seem light hearted in the dungeon, despite his remarkable fortitude in keeping no will for the darkness was that he would imagine it quite disrespectful in such indiscribable ways to hold the presence of such evil with anything less than the most solemn mind.
"These books could never be kept in the tower." the master mage continued, "The appeal would be too great for too many. I could only imagine the struggle my mages would face to resist the corruption. Truly, it is impressive and indescribably honorable of you to hold this library." One might think that the master of white mages would wish such a library burnt, but that would honestly be the most hypochritical thing for him to think. knowledge after all, was not the atrocity, but rather the manner in which it was used. surely the power that Titus himself held could reak uncontrollable havok upon the world, and yet it maintained peace instead. the oposite could also be true if any were wise enough to make it so.
Titus stood silent for a moment as he peered down at the book that was presented to him. "I remember him well." He said, slowly reaching out one hand to grasp the skin laden journal. "He and I have some none too fond memories together, i must say. It has been a long time since his name has been brought to me, even longer since i have seen him." Titus took a deep breath as he closed his eyes for a moment and thought on the past. "It has always been my greatest regret that i never finished the man when ever i had the chances. It had happened more than once, but my naivity was too deep to do it. It will always be my eternal shame that i never did defeat Dakham."

Kyrea thought perhaps he would have run into Dhakham, as they’d be about around the same age and time. Though she had actually hoped that perhaps Titus had taken him out long ago, as that meant that the dark creature could still be out there, somewhere. “Well, perhaps his vampire traits helped him to stay alive.” She near growled at the thought, her simple mannerisms darkening all the while.
She hated this place, but a she had stated, wouldn’t allow it any place else besides in her own protection, as she knew her own abilities and the lure of these dark volumes was made less attractive as she had personal connection with the writer of most of them and had no love for the creature behind the mask she had been shown, so long ago.
“You’ll find insights and his point of view at to the time when I was made in there as well…” She paused and took a deep breath. “Of course, we can always hope the dear creature has decided to sleep.” She then added, a spark of her hate turning up in her tone. “But alas, that may just be a girl dreaming again.” She said and then took a moment to look around. “If, when you have finished with that one, you would like to inspect any of the others, do let me know, for you, I will allow it, as I truly don’t think you will be drawn to use the magic, should you find something of interest in there.” She then went on, her manner as controlled as it could be, considering the circumstances and the pull that tugged at her very soul.
She thought about what he had said, about the books and scrolls not to be allowed in the tower and she agreed, not due to any part over Titus, but then again, total power, was very alluring, and that would be what would be handed him she she ever choose to do so, and he accept.
“You can place that back in here and we can take it out of this dismal place with us, but I think, it is time we left.” She then stated quite frankly. “I am beginning to have a wonderful day turn ugly in my mind and I simply won’t have it.” She added with something of a hidden growl beneath her voice, something feral that would only come form an animal, or vampire of course.
