The night was darker than usual, the clouds in the sky covered the moon completely and what little light that was offered in the park didn’t reach it’s fingers to far in the fog that came in off the ocean. It was a thick fog, bringing with it the chill of the open seas as well the smells of the salty water that lay outstretched for so far as the eyes could see, not all too far away.
The little Vampire Queen, normally nice and sweet, full of happiness and bounce, was truly not so this evening and probably should have been spending it in the White Tower with its Master Mage, and perhaps her best friend, but instead, the darkness of her vampiric self was allowed to take over, her hunters self, the dark and twisted mind of a jaded individual wandered the Park, her hunger running much deeper than a simple feeding, much deeper indeed.
Tonight she called in the fog, twirled around in its icy fingers and delighted in the feel of its damp blanket that made vision difficult as she continued, more and more, sweeping it in on the back of sluggish currents of wind, so many of them, by the time she stopped spinning and the wind stood now as still of the night sky, it was an impressive feat if one could see past their own nose for miles around in any direction.
It was then that she heard them, a few teenage boys out for a midnight stroll, smelled the liquor on their breath, and seeping out their pours. She heard their laughter and their glee, imagined their faces young and invigorated by some late night party where at least one of them had gotten laid.
She knew where they were headed knew the place quite well, and could hear them staggering her way. A dark grin drew over the Queens small face as she heard, something not at all like her, not at all. She waited, patiently biding her time, they would come, they had to if they wanted to get to their destination, though truly, by the thoughts in her mind the darkness that ruled her, not a single one would find his way there.
One, two, three, they stepped into the light, three young lives and a Queen with a blood lust uncontrolled at the time. “Hello” she greeted them with a girlish smile. “Are you headed to the party down there?” She asked, giving them a flash of her blue orbs and a smile.
The boys all agreed they were, stumbling over one another, all of them looking her over quite seriously. “Mind if I walk with you?” She asked, the three agreeing immediately that yes she should.
She positioned herself between then, two to her right, one to her left and didn’t object to their arms about her small shoulders either, or their silly little boy mannerisms that went along with it. Innocent enough, playful and fun, they walked a few more feet and the small Queen laid her head on one of the boys’ chests, turning her head in slightly complaining of the chill.
A few more steps and the boy whose chest she had laid her head, stumbled forward fell and didn’t move. The small queen giggled, the other two laughed. “Clumsy fool drank to much.” One of them said as he reached down to pick his friend up, he realized, then that he was dead. But before he could turn, the second found his head between her icy hands and with a loud SNAP that head lolled to the side and the Queen tossed his body aside as if it was nothing but trash. The third tried to run, tried to yell out, but icy fingers seemed to choke the words in his throat and the wind swirled about his feet so forcefully that he fell to his back on the cool wet ground. It was only a matter of seconds that he then felt her booted feet on his abdomen and her even icier grip on the back of his head, her fingers wrapped about his hair as she forced his head back. “Mind if I join you for a drink?” She then asked, just before she bent down and ripped her elongated canines through his throat, and drank. She didn’t stop, she pulled upwards on his flesh, and it wasn’t until his last dying breath that she let his head flop to the ground.
She rolled off the young male and looked down at him quizzically, her dark orbs glittering with tears that wouldn’t fall. “I am so sorry.” She told his dead corpse, “Tell your friends it was nothing personal. I was just hungry.” She finished as she reached out, closed his eyes and then turned and walked away.

A tall, dark figure watched the female vampire as she killed the three young men. His large eyes glittered ad he slowly walked forward and slightly to the right, his long arms carfully dangling at his sides. His lips were unusually red for a male, for he, too, had recently fed.
He tilted his eyes up, glancing quickly to the dark sky which in the day could kill him. The sun to most vampires was deadly, and he was no exception. His pale skin and dark clothing blended perfectly with the thick fog, making him hard to see. He felt the deaths before he saw them, the fog effecting him, but less than it would for a normal human.
He observed the three dead people on the ground with an expert gaze; he had had great experience with corpses. He didn`t recognize the female vampire, but he sensed that she was a lot older than he was. He had been changed just over two hundred years ago, he guessed that the female was at least three hundred years older than that.
He quickened his pace so that he could catch up to the girl. "Excuse me," He called softly, "But I don`t think we`ve met." He said in a very polite tone.

Kyrea heard him walking toward her though never slowed her pace, if this vampire wished to speak to her, he’d make his way to catching up and he had. She allowed her feet to come to a stop when he spoke, her blue orbs taking his entirety in before he had even gotten the first word out of his mouth. She could sense that he’d already fed and didn’t sense in him too much darkness and so, she turned to face him, look up to him would be more of a choice then turned to simply gaze, as he was quite taller than the small Queen.
This one was indeed new, he wasn’t one that lived in her house he might have been one that was living in the tombs, but she honestly doubted that either, at least he didn’t carry with him the scent of the graveyard so had he been staying there it had not been for very long.
The mist swirled about his feet for a moment and then around her own as she turned, as if in greeting this new vampire before even the queen had spoke.
“Evening and no, I do not believe I have had the pleasure.” She stated, her soft voice coming to the others ears in sweet tones, nothing of the dangerous huntress she’d shown in her wake for him to see, no nothing at all. There was no darkness surrounding her any longer, she’d just purged it for the time being, hoping inwardly she would better control that darkness the next time it should show to try and overtake her. “I am Kyrea.” She told him, holding out a hand for him to take. “And you might be?” She asked then, that same, sweet voice coming to his ears once again.

Riley gave a small nod and smile as he took her hand. "Riley Sielum." He answered polietely in his own thick but extremely polight voice.. The mist pooled around his feet and his eyes glimmered. When the musical sound of the female`s voice hit his ears, his smile lifted ever so slightly.
"I`ve been around here for a few years now, and I haven`t yet met many of our kind." He explained as he firmly shook her hand, then dropped it. It was more than obvious that she was a vampire, so he didn`t hesitate to use talk in plural form.
"You seem like you know your way around here, have you been here a while?" He asked softly. Not a living sole would hear their conversation; if the three men were alive, they would have heard, but they weren`t, but the thick fog blocked the noise from traveling anywhere.

The foggy mist seemed to drift about sluggishly then, as if the air around them was coming to a halt and in a few moments, stopped its movement altogether and hung in place, as mist would, when there was no air. Then, without reason it once again began to stir, swirling about as Kyrea seemed to be thinking. “Oh stop that.” She stated with an casual wave of her hand and the mist seemed to back away from the two of them and hang about, surrounding them as if leaving the two in a small circle of dry warmer air, surrounded in a wall of thick fog.
Kyrea smiled at the vampire, her lips turning up to form a smile like a dark angel, her eyes glistened for a moment as she continued to think on things. “It is not often that a vampire walks the city without someone relaying their arrival to me.” She mused, tilting her head slightly as she regarded her current company. “Oh, well, must have slipped someone’s mind I would suppose, thought I must admit, I honestly haven’t made myself all to accessible as of late.” She finished and then righted her head, realizing she’d had it tilted and even gave a slight half laugh at how silly she must have looked in that fashion.
“Oh I do apologize Riley, how rude of me, musing my concerns right in front of you like that, you must think me rude.” She apologized. “Where have you been staying this entire time? Certainly not the graveyard, I’d have smelt the scent of the dead hanging from you and besides, you don’t seem that kind.” She asked and stated all in one breath.
It was true, he certainly didn’t seem the kind that would hang in the graves, and she didn’t feel a powerful darkness in him, perhaps underlying his composition but certainly not oozing from his every poor as those ones often did.

Riley paused to watch the mist as Kyrea spoke to it. "You guessed correctly; I work at a small bar on the poorer side of town at night. During the day I stay rent out a cellar they have available. The conditions aren`t great, but it`s makes the small income I would require." He answered with a single breath.
He had only met one other vampire before, and it had been a rather quick meeting. He wasn`t exactly sure of how he should speak, still not used to living as a vampire, too attacked to his human ways.
His dark hair and eyes seemed black in the limited light, but his eyes were obviously curious and respectful. He could tell that the female vampire in front of him had athority, he wasn`t sure to what extent, but he knew better than to disrespect her.

Kyrea watched and listened to this vampire, she was keen to the movements he made as well paying attention to the rise or fall of the blood pressure that coursed his veins at the moment. He had recently fed so this was not a difficult thing to do. She came to the conclusion that he did indeed tell the truth as well, if he was working around humans, he was as she had expected, a decent ‘person’.
“If you would like.” She began her soft voice just loud enough for vampire ears. “My estate is located in upper town Celesta, you honestly can not miss it, the big one, fenced and well guarded. There are of course, rules for staying there, many a vampire calls it their home already, and I am always ready to welcome another soul under my roof.” She told him in a manner of welcoming him to her abode, should he wish better equipped and much more comfort than he was presently residing in; comfortable, and secure.
She would not announce herself as Queen of Vampires; he would figure it out along the way. And so long as he remained respectful, she wouldn’t have to show him who she was, and she hoped he would remain as such, she hated to throw her weight around and hated it even more when she was made to do so.
‘Of course, I could take you there, I was about to head that way currently, if you wished to accompany me, I would not mind at all.” She then added.

Riley nodded and smiled slowly; when he spoke, he, too, spoke only loud enough for the two of them to hear. "That`s sounds wonderful, but are you sure you you want to bring me along? I do have, for a vampire, a rather comfortable home for myself. While it isn`t the most conveniant, I`m pleased to live there." He rattled on. He stopped himself there, not sure if he was talking too much.
His home was indeed, comfortable. The normal needs for a living person were provided, though he had barely used them for more than a total a thirty minutes. He wondered what the woman`s home was like; it was obvious that it must be a vampire-friendly place, since Kyrea lived there along with various other vampires.

Kyrea smiled warningly at the new vampire, her dark blue orbs capturing the light from the moon slightly and for an instant glittered silvery as she smiled at him a most tender smile, even for a vampire.
“I am certain, though I am not saying you’d have to stay there, just offering the protection of my house, that is all.” She told him, knowing many a vampire that stayed there stayed for the protection even more so than the comforts it offered. As even during the day it was watched ever over, the hounds as well as the human Drannis, he’d come to know should he stay there, gave the place a most secure factor to it. Not to mention, of course, herself.
“At any rate, I will take you there, you mill stay the night tonight, as you’d not have time to make it home this night once there, and you can make your decision at any time, you do not need to tell me until you are ready to do as such.” She told him, not wanting to sound as though she was trying to pressure him into anything, it was after all his own decision, and who was she to deny him of that.

Riley replied with a confused look. "Protection?" He asked. While he had been changed oven two hundred years ago, he just recently came to interact with humans or other vampires. He had spent most of his new life on the plains and in the forests, not trusting himself enough to be around humans.
So because of his extremely limited knowledge, he didn`t think vampires had anything to hide from, besides the sun. He didn`t even know how a vampire could be killed. For all he knew, he could be dying right now.
He tilted his head as he spoke, showing more of his obvious questioning, and as of yet, he didn`t reply to her offer. He was slightly nervous in front of this female, and he didn`t really know why. He hadn`t decided if he was going to accept her offer or not, still not sure about the one standing in front of him after witnessing how dangerous she could be to humans. For a vampire, Riley still had quite a few of his human instincts.

Kyrea looked at him and sighed. He was so young, could it be possible that this one had truly not as of yet ran into the Lycans, or even worse yet, a vampire hunter? She supposed he could have been lucky enough in his years, though she knew he’d not even around too long, she also knew that he wasn’t brand new and so, she surmised that he had simply been lucky enough not to have to deal with either of the two. Then again of course, there was the protection from some of those vampires she spoke that had indeed lived in the tombs too. Terribly angry and vicious beings that care little for anything but themselves, would and had in the past even cause the deaths of a few others in the realm by leading them astray and into the catacombs where they’d inevitably been struck by sunlight without knowing it was around a corner.
“Yes, protection.” She replied. “Protection from outsiders such as hunters and Lycans and sadly enough, even our own kind, from time to time.” She stated, this last part spoken in sadness. It truly did sadden her that her own kind would turn on one another if for no other reason than just for sport.
Kyrea paused in her talking for a bit, wondering if she might need to introduce herself in a proper form of manner, though she honestly hated to throw it around, but it seemed this new ‘kid’ needed a bit more reason to follow her and she then sighed and turned around to face him fully.
“Look.” Kyrea started, the light in her blue orbs dancing around as if trying with little success at catching the tail end of the ray in front of it. “I suppose I might as well introduce myself proper to you, as it seems you might be in dire need of my support for future reference, and sooner than I had thought.” She moved on, her voice still just as soft, just as caring and quiet as always. “I am Kyrea Shaw, Queen of Vampires and I am most pleased to make your acquaintance, I am not going to harm a hair on your head, nor shall any in my presence, what I offer you sir, is simply a place of protection from an outside world, you obviously have a lot to learn about, that is as well, where I can be of assistance, and am, as I have stated, more than willing to give as much.” She told him and then inclined her head toward the vampire once more.

Riley listened to her words carfully, his quick mind registering that she spoke the truth. And she was probably right; he didn`t know much about his own kind, let alone of the other beings that could be the death of him.
"I would accept your offer. I probably seem like a young child to you who has much to learn, which I do. I didn`t know until you just said that there were people who hunted us. I will do my best to follow any advice you give." He stated sincerely.
Somewhere in the back of his mind he wondered how many vampires were currently with this Queen. He would have to be carefull with the way he presented himself as a newcomer. Of course maybey there were different 'rules' for vampires than there were for humans, but how would he know?

Kyrea watched him as he spoke, her dark blue orbs smiling at him as eh seemed to stumble over his words. She wasn’t certain as to why he would be so awkward in he presence in the first place, but was certain that he had his own reasons.
“Well then, home it is?” She inquired, still not certain if that was what his mind had made up or if it hadn’t as of yet. All she needed was a yes or no, he was talking around what he wanted and sometimes that was one of the most frustrating things a person, ir vampire could do to anyone.
The small queen would allow him a few more moments to decide and then she would ultimately be waling that way anyway. She had other things to do as well, and though she wanted to talk to this young vampire, get to know him, she also wanted to make it to the Tower to read some of the books Titus had allowed her the opportunity to devour. Of course, that could wait until light, she wasn’t really in THAT big a hurry she guessed, she calked it up more to wanting to leave the close vicinity to the place where she had killed those three boys, something she was not proud of.

Riley smiled and nodded. "Yes. Home." He replied softly. He tilted his head to the side, examining Kyrea. He could tell she wasn`t exactly comfortable where they were. He looked around expectanly. "Which way is home exactly." He asked. The word 'home' felt odd coming from his mouth, and he was sure it didn`t sound right either.
He wondered idily what Kyrea`s home would be like; would it be dark and full of coffins? He hardly thought that, but that was the stereotype.

Kyrea smiled at him when he said the word home. No, it didn’t sound odd to her, her home was just that, a home, no coffins would he find there, not a single one at that. He would find, when he got there that certainly, the place was enormous and very fancy on the outside, but once inside, the place was about the closest thing to a home that there could be as every single vampire that lived there had put forth an effort to add something to the decor, making it a Hodgepodge of memories and indeed, a home.
“Ok then, let us go.” She told him leading the way through the park and onwards to the city center. It was a rather long way to walk, but they had the time. Of course, they could have made their way faster, should they had chosen, but Kyrea was content on the walk, she honestly loved the night air and the feel of everything about her.
“So, if you don’t mind me asking…” She began. “Where is it exactly you come from, I mean, before you came from your place in Celesta.” She then asked as they moved along the streets of the main town now.
He would either answer or not, it was his prerogative, she knew that some vampires preferred to keep their past, their past and didn’t like to speak of it. Kyrea of course, would tell anyone what he or she wanted to know; she was not your typical vampire after all.
