Kyrea walked the streets her dark blue orbs watching everything, her small frame though still quite young in appearance, held to it a certain strength that was quite visible to the naked eye. Her hair lay over her shoulders, cascading down to cover the pale bare skin beneath. Her dress was long and of a pale blue, tightly fitting at the top, enhancing her perfectly formed body while the bottom half of her dress swayed and played in the wind, made up of mostly long strands of silk that from time to time, exposed the flesh of her thighs as she walked. Her feet were coved by soft leather boots with a slight heal that matched her dress perfectly. This was not the daytime child-like Queen of the vampires, but their true leader and a very dangerous huntress to say the least. Now however, she had already fed and was not looking for blood, her mind was set on something else, a promise she had intended to keep to its fullest.
As she moved towards the White Tower in all its splendor, she found herself being followed, by what fool, she didn’t know, she only hoped that whoever it was, they would leave her be, she didn’t want to mess up her dress. Though she could hear his breaths from behind her, and smell his lust, this idiot was after something she was not about to give up, and he had chosen the wrong target.
Kyrea sped up her pace, yes, she could have made it to the Tower before he had caught up to her, but then he would just find himself some other victim, someone less than able to take care of herself, so in a way, no matter how this turned out, she was going to be doing the night a good thing.
She knew he’d come running at her from behind, knew he would, the moment she sped up, this being the signal that she knew he was back there and if he was going to do this, he had better act.
She was right, the smelly man, quite a bit larger than her, of course most males WERE quite a bit larger than her, reached out to snatch her and as he did, she spun around with a kick to his skull, using perhaps far more force than she needed to, but it was all she had to do, because now, he lay in the middle of the street unconscious with his skull cracked open quite well.
Kyrea turned and looked down at him lying there and then let out a scream, loud enough for any night police there might be to come this way and find him, hopefully they’d get him to the hospital in time, if not, she shrugged. “It was your bad anyway sir.” She told him and then after adjusting the weight of the bag she carried she quickly made it to the Tower doors.
Kyrea walked through the doors and moved along the first room on totally silent feet. The Mage she did run into seemed to either not notice her, or simply knew not to disturb her, either way, she was glad for the ease of her entry.
She quietly made her way up the stairs, quietly, but very quickly, adding to her already heavy load a few more tombs that caught her eyes on the way. When she came to Titus’s room, she paused for a moment to straighten herself up a bit and then walked in, hoping that this was ok, he had told her any time day or night though, so she figured she would be fine.
She looked about the room and noticed him sleeping on his bed and watched him for a moment, a small smile turning up the corners of her lips as she settled the bag, along with her new choices on the floor next to him.
She moved very silently, making no noise whatsoever, like the wind one could say, she moved closer to him and leaned over his bed, watching him sleep, her lips still turned up in that little smile, she thought he looked so cute asleep like that. She didn’t hover too long, imagine how rude she would have looked to him had he woken up to find her staring at him like that, but she couldn’t help herself the pleasure of it for just a moment. This was one thing she wouldn’t have usually done, and certainly not like her daytime self at all, but she was more bold at night and honestly, he did look cute all asleep like that. Nothing like a vampire, no he was at peace and to her, that was something she knew little about and hoped he was dreaming of something peaceful.
She then, reluctantly turned away from his side and walked over to where her books from earlier were plucked one from the stack and settled herself down and started to read.

Titus was sleeping quite well with the satisfaction of having found a new friend. What a scholarly woman she was too. The excitement of their conversations had tired the old man out. Certainly his body was fit, but his mind was tired it had been so long since he had anyone to arouse such thought from him beyond the books he read and the curiosities of his own mind. Intelligent interactive conversation was a far different matter.
He woke to the turning of pages, and he woke with a smile on his face. His wonderful new friend was back. That could be the only way pages would be turning on the hundredth floor of the tower while he was asleep. No other mage would have been up there uninvited, even if they did want to study what he kept up there, which was unlikely to begin with. Titus turned his head to look at Kyrea before he got out of bed. She had changed her clothes since she left, and was looking quite nice in her blue dress.
“Well hello again, beautiful.” He welcomed, referring to not only her pretty appearance, but mainly the state of her mind as he had described it to her before. Sitting up, Titus threw off his blankets and turned to sit on the edge of his bed for a moment before standing and walking naked to the coat rack ten feet from his bed to put on his large brown robe.
Once dressed, Titus walked over to Kyrea and looked down at the books in her small collection. He immediately spotted a couple that were not his own and his face lit up. He knew even before reading the titles that they were hers. “You brought them already!” he exclaimed excitedly, leaning over to reach for one.

Kyrea heard him stir and just before he spoke, her blue orbs peered over the edge of the book in her hand and then allowed it to settle a bit further so she could offer him the smile that was on her lips. She was quite pleased he’d woken, as she wanted him company more than anything she could think of. He was a rare find, perhaps one of the rarest ever. Brilliant, and stimulating all in one, it took a lot to peek a vampire’s interest for any other reason than a prospective meal and he went above and beyond those measures, far beyond. Certainly her daytime self was easier to please, but in the night when her animal side tried to take over, it was not an easy thing to keep her attention. He had.
It wasn’t until he stood that she realized he was naked, and she averted her eyes as quickly as she could, though not until she had realized she was staring for a few moments. She began to feel a little hot, her cheeks maybe even showing a little pink. Was she actually blushing? No way. But it was true, she did.
“Hello.” She said quietly as she waited for him to dress himself. “What? Oh, yes..” She said, still a bit distracted, her eyes now turned to the bag she had brought with her.
In the bag he would find a number of books ranging from some of the oldest Tombs in the vampire’s home consisting of diaries of various Kings and Queens as well as some of her own writings concerning both the physical as well chemical change in a vampire Queen when moving from day and into night then back again. There were books on the sanity of vampires along with the attempts at trying to put the passion a vampire feels in everything and how some simply go insane from its hold on them. It was however, the diaries she wanted him to read by far the most, as they gave incites to a vampires mind from different angles and a great history of some very interesting creatures.
“I hope those will give you a good start.” She told him, now smiling up at him as he moved over the books like a small child digging into a candy bag. “And those are just the beginning, I have so much to share with you.” She finished.
It was wonderful to see this accomplished man so excited over something she was able to bring into his life and she found herself simply sitting three, smiling as she watched him. Like a mother watching her child open his gifts on Christmas. As she smiled, her long pearly canines shown in all their brilliance, perhaps making the smile even that much more, as it truly showed she was comfortable with him in not consciously trying to hide them.
“I trust you slept well?” She then asked, knowing he had, or at least he was when she came in.
Three was still a few hours until morning would come and her desk would arrive, she was excited about that still as well and looking forward to taking up another of his days in deep conversation.

Titus was so distracted by the volumes of books that Kyrea had brought him that he didn’t notice at all, that she seemed so awkward. Like an excited child, Titus impatiently sifted through all the books in her back to read all the titles. He was simply so happy for the things that she had brought him, he had to see them all. He wanted to read them all right away as well, but obviously he would not be able to. The diaries interested him the most. The others would be wonderful analysis he was certain, but those diaries were sure to offer a perspective like none other. He was oh so taken with perspective after all.
What a philosophical revelation it would be to read the thoughts of vampires; kings and queens of the metaphoric underworld. These were perspectives which had never been available to him before. Oh what a great treasure that bag of hers held. “Oh,” Titus began excitedly responding to Kyrea’s comment. “Any one of these alone would offer me more perspective and knowledge on your people than any other man in the world could hope to possess. Truly I thank you dear.”
He read all the names of all the authors of the books. A name alone did not tell a tale, but somehow it connected him in his own mind to the author. It was something personal with which he could relate. Finally looking up from the books, Titus was able to address Kyrea’s last comment. “I slept wonderfully.” He told her, smiling widely and looking obviously as full of energy as he was. “And I trust you feel, refreshed?” he asked her in return, hesitating a mere instant to pick the right word.

He wasn’t joking; this she knew as the lives of vampires to the human population was nothing more than speculation and old wives tales. Her handing him these volumes was showing him the greatest faith and as she knew he would, he took her gift to him very dear to his heart. He was about to be the first human ever introduced and allowed the knowledge to the vampire world and she knew she was not going to regret it. Finally, she could share it with someone who would appreciate what it was that he was seeing. Something she had wanted for a very long time now.
Just then she gave a half laugh. “My diary however, is not in there, as I am not yet willing to share it with the world.” She teased, meaning of course that it wouldn’t be available until she took her last breath. “Though from this point on, I am certain you will know most of what it can read.” She added with a wink.
She thought on his question, though a simple enough one it would seem, she actually had to think on her night before answering. “Yes, I do believe I am, refreshed.” She replied her voice going silken for a moment, loosing some of its innocence as she spoke.
Kyrea noticed she’d been staring at him for quite some time, though it was a silent and friendly enough look she gave him, she also knew the darker meaning of why it was she watched and she shook her head slightly as if to clear it and then laughed. “I do apologize.” She said, averting her eyes. “I just find it so entirely fascinating that I could bring such pleasure to so brilliant a mind and to see you so joyful over something I have done is beyond words.” She finished, her eyes returning to gaze at him again before her face moved up to follow them.

“Why would I need to read your diary?” Titus asked with a joyfully teasing tone as he winked at her. “When I have you here to tell me how you feel and what you think. Truly, that is amply better than reading those things from a book, as splendid a book as I’m sure it all would make.” Honestly, to have the vampire queen of all people to tell him of her thoughts was the greatest learning curve to be had for the old mage looking to learn about the vampire race.
“Oh dear,” he started again after her last comment. “What ever would you have here to apologize for?” he asked, shaking his head. “You have offered me the opportunity of a lifetime. Thanks to you, I can now learn one of the few remaining major mysteries of the world. I certainly am not surprised that you of all people could make me so happy, and surely you must not seriously be surprised. I am truly fortunate for your gifts, you must know that.”
“What would you like to read or discuss first?” he then asked her, a renewed excitement showing through his smile.

Kyrea thought about his words and then nodded on response. “Right then.” She stated, still with that same silken tone in her voice. “And So for as much as reading my diary goes.. You are correct, as I have told you, want to teach you everything I know.” She left it there and looked around the room, her eyes going over the many books lying about and finding those she had chosen from the selves themselves. And then sighed.
“Well…” She started closing the one she had been reading before he woke. “I should think that I would like to know a little bit more about the author of most of the tombs I will be reading first, before actually conversing their subject matter.” She offered Titus a smile and then stood, laying the book back on top the stack of the ones she’d gathered earlier that day.
Kyrea then moved across the room and over to stand beside Titus for a moment as she moved to collect those books she’d collected on her way up, from the floor next to the bed and then back again, to place those books, neatly under the first three and then turned around again with a little bounce and a larger smile, pretending to hold a pen and paper in her hand as if to take notes and then giggled. “So, your name is Titus and you’ve …” She started. Giving him a raised brow and a very interested look. “Oh, that is of course, if you wouldn’t mind regaling me with your story, that is.” She finished.

The smile never left Titus’ face, but rather grew warmer than so excited as it had been. He laughed at Kyrea’s little jotting motions. She was terribly cute; youthful in a way he would not have expected from such a brilliant and experienced person. It was a refreshing trait and he was glad to see it. “Of course I wouldn’t mind, young lady.” He replied warmly. “I am an open book for you.” He added, absolutely meaning the metaphor. His life had in fact been chronicled in writing through journals of his own; they comprised an entire corridor on the ninety ninth floor. He was certain though that she would feel the same about reading his journals as he felt about hers. She seemed to think in much the same manner as he.
“You need only ask the questions you wish answered dear.” Titus continued, “My life has been long and I would never know where to start.” Certainly the beginning would be the obvious place to begin, but he had done so much and lived so long, there could be so many greater points of interest to an inquiring mind.

Kyrea thought a second and then took a long breath. “Ok, lets start with…” She paused and regarded Titus for a few more moments and then walked over and took a seat before she continued, crossing one leg over the next and fixing her gaze almost excitedly on the man’s face. “When you first realized your magical potential.” She then stated. “Yes, I believe that’s a good point to start on, at least and don’t worry, I won’t make you talk all day.” She winked at him.
Of course, she could have stayed there listen to him talk all day, she rather liked this man’s voice, she thought perhaps it was the honesty that lay within it, or maybe, it was the wisdom or simply, just because, and all of the above even. Either way, she could have and would be totally and completely mesmerized listening to him, understanding what he was saying as well as how it was said, every aspect of the story he would tell, would not go to waste, she would feel what he was saying, just as much as she would hear.
Kyrea then brought her feet up and wrapped her arms about her knees, small enough, she fit on that chair just like a child would have and was perfectly comfortable as well, she laid her chin on the top of her knees and waited.

“I’m not sure how to distinguish that.” Titus replied quizzically. “I first learned to use it when I was quite young at home. That was minor healing magic that the village witch doctor used. I was supposed to be his successor to mend the wounds and tend the illnesses of our people. Obviously the old doctor believed in me. I hadn’t considered how far the magic could go though, until I started mending broken bones and closing gaping wounds. By that point I figured if I could do that, there must be other things, grander things that could be done. I had no source of evidence though, so that was purely my speculation until a traveler came through my village who could start a fire with his mind. That’s what let me know for certain that there was more to magic than healing. I left the village much to the doctor’s, and everyone else’s dismay to find more people in other places who may know more about it.”
The old mage went and took a seat across from Kyrea. “You see, there were a number of realizations about magical potential, so I’m not sure what to say.” He continued as he leaned back in his chair. “I later faced a man who used magic to suppress a village and forced them into slavery as he believed his powers entitled him to rule. This was an early form of tyranny and serfdom. Unfortunately, that later became a common basis for dominance. I fought that first man though, and that was when I realized the battle there was to be fought with magic. I wasn’t sure then if I wanted to continue that kind of exploration. That dark side of magic which I previously hadn’t considered scared me. If someone could act that way, then maybe I could too. It was later though, when the dark mages were ruling the world that I realized I would be more powerful. It was my drive and determination that had other mages following my lead. The fact that they all looked up to me gave me the sense of confidence that carried me to the power it took to overthrow the dark empire.”

He was talking about times she had never known, and things she couldn’t have ever actually experience and so, even in his explanation of himself, he was relating to her history as well, something she was most fond of. During his talk, the little queen tightened her grip about her knees as she imagined the very smell of that first fire he saw come from a simple man and even shivered outwardly at the thought of a Dark Mage rule. Certainly, she knew about these things, looking back through some of those tombs in her own library, but this man had lived it and she would feel the memories as they came from his lips.
As he moved and seated himself in front of her, she let go of her knees and allowed then to sit quietly on the floor, her hands now holding to the sides of her seat as she continued to listen, watch and feel.
“Ok, what then? What magic had you gained by that time? Had you put studies towards the fire or something else. Or did you? Was it all just hands on learning at that point?” She did have questions and lots of them, though for now, she laid to rest what she had already asked, an eager girl wanting to know.
She of course, wanted to know everything she could. Every word every thought and feeling he had had, but she could surmise those feelings in his words, so wouldn't have him try and explain. She felt them well enough on her own.
Time was drawing on in their time together and though it wasn’t daylight yet, it was fast approaching and Kyrea wasn’t noticing she was too wrapped up in his tale, in that voice.

Titus laughed a little bit, light heartedly at the innocent excitement in Kyrea’s tone and manner. It had been a long time since anyone had taken interest in his life; in fact, there may never have been anyone quite that interested before.
“I never gave up the healing arts, for one.” Titus started with a definitive statement. “That first introduction I had to magic was a good one, and to this day I count my blessings that I started with that.” There had been many times throughout the millennia where healing had been an integral part of survival; in fact, his knowledge of it had likely saved the revolution of light against dark several times. He explained the basic principle of why he was so thankful for the beginning that he had, and told a few stories from times long past.
“Fire as well, left a permanent mark on me.” He continued, moving to answer her question more directly. “The spectacle of combustion was awe inspiring all those eons ago, and still is to this day. I saw it to be most practical as a resource more so than the obvious combat potential. My pursuit of it began far before I even confronted the principle of dark magic of course. How naïve I was back then.” Again, Titus told tales of eras past, of conflicts in interest and principle, and of battles between mages. He returned as well to speak of the practicality. “Think of the benefit in warming a home, even a town complex without the need for wood. Think how that could help in a damp winter, or how ideal it would be to direct a forest fire, even subdue it from a village. Those were the things I imagined when I began to look into using it.”
“My beginnings were slow though,” the old master mage laughed. “I never could concentrate on one train of thought. I always had the same insatiable lust for diverse knowledge that I have now. I couldn’t stay only with fire, even with healing to compliment it. I grew fascinated with the wind. Such a powerful force could certainly be an amazing asset if it could be harnessed. That, I imagined before I ever knew a mage who knew it. The man who first taught me was a sailor; the best I’ve ever known. The man used his knowledge to move his ship faster than any other, to direct it where the wind wouldn’t go. He took me places few men had ever seen. I saw the continent of Shandow before it was even a myth.” Once more, stories were told and ambitions were revealed.
Titus moved on to answer Kyrea’s last question. “I have always looked to every avenue available for learning.” He told her. “There has never been a time in my life where I have not sought the knowledge of others. Without the sharing of knowledge, no one in the world would know more than their own imagination’s extent. This is a great deal, but a great deal more is the imagination’s extent of all those people in the world who wish to learn.” With that, Titus motioned his arms around him to point at all the books which he had collected form every part of the world.
“There were times though, when such knowledge was rare and the only advances I made were through my own endeavors, which at no point in history have I ever ceased to explore.” He explained some of the experiments he had made in his times, even laughed at some blunders; some in fact, fairly drastic. He had after all, had a slow start as he had explained, and reiterated again, due to the diversity of his studies. “And then there’s now,” he continued, “where I have already explored vast avenues of knowledge, and there remains little known to others that is not known to me. Again, I have little progress but that which I make myself.”
An enormous smile spread over his face as he thought. ”Though I am inexplicably excited when new knowledge does come my way from another.” He said, looking at Kyrea, and as well at the books that she brought him. “I do occasionally receive news from scholars around the world. Notes, journals, and text books from studies of academic minds the world over come my way. Few things excite me more.”
“This new avenue that you have given me is the single greatest to come available to me in a long, long time.” He then finished, smiling brightly.

Was a long and delightful tale she found herself listening to, the memories, the history and the man behind it all sitting before her regaling his tale, his wonderful voice, the feelings of excitement in his tones at certain points and then the seriousness of it. She smiled at his feelings towards the blunders as they came to him. The entire time, she was sitting at the edge of her seat, when he was finished with one point and moving on to another, was like listening to a play, her mind swept away with pictures she’d made in her mind from his words.
“Incredible, I mean, you’ve been through so much. You’ve seen things I’ve only heard in tales or dreamed of in my fantasies, as well as my darkness.” She said as he finished speaking. “Thank you so mu…” Her voice halted and she her head snapped up to look toward the window.
At some point during his tale, the sun had risen and had crept its way across the floor to meet her now, its warm fingers moving into her small form, wiggling their way through her very being to wrap themselves about every muscle, every tendon, every bone and vein in her body.
“I’m so.. so..rry..” She struggled to say as her small form jerked in a manner that tore her from her seat and she slammed hard on the floor where she curled into a ball, as tight as she could to keep from thrashing about. Her teeth ground together against the screams that still came without her notice as her blood boiled and her heart began to move. Even the very core of her bone structure began to change; becoming less dense. She bit into her lip now as her canines slid their way back to normal and shut her eyes hard as her irises started to loose their vampire sight, to take in the light, they had to. The process took several long minutes to move through her entirety and when it had finished, she still lay on the floor shivering as droplets of crystal tears ran down her cheeks to form a pool on the floor beneath her.
This was something she hadn’t wanted to happen in front of him, something she was not ready to have happen in front of him at least. It had been something she planned on him seeing later on perhaps, but she had waited too long.

“You’re very welcome.” He replied awkwardly as Kyrea stopped talking. He was going to discuss more on the effect that living through all those eras had had on him, but she was obviously starting something painful. He hadn’t foreseen this happening, hadn’t even conceived it at all. As the little vampire woman fell to the floor, he followed her to his knees and suffered terrible feelings of futility as he knew nothing of what was happening.
He watched her, he leaned over her wanting to help her, he frantically searched in his mind for anything that he could do and he felt utterly useless in that moment. Once Kyrea was done with her convulsing and screaming, Titus reached his arms beneath her and lifted the woman up as he stood and carried her to his bed where he laid her down with plump pillows. He figured the least he could do was to set her in comfort to rest.
“Will you be alright?” Titus asked as he sat in his chair next to the bed and leaned over her. ”What just happened to you? I met you in the daylight sun, I thought it had no effect on you.” He wondered curiously, and hoped the woman was well enough to speak. Otherwise he would leave her to rest and hope this was not a problem situation.

Kyrea didn’t make a sound when he picked her up and it wasn’t until he picked her up that she even knew he was close to her. She allowed him to settle her down on the bed and her eyes remained closed the entire time. She wasn’t sure how’d he react at all, when this happened, and had hoped he’d have had time to read about it before she got caught, and the time they spent together, it was inevitable, in the same room as he when it did happen.
She offered him a slight smile form her position on the bed before she spoke. “It only hurts when I breathe, no worries.” She told him, trying to lighten up what had just happened. “No, the sun doesn’t hurt, or it won’t any more that is.” She started to explain.
Kyrea then opened her eyes and sat up a little. “You’ve got a comfy bed.” She stated, once more trying to make light of things. The tiny Queen then took one of his pillows and hugged it against her chest before she went on. “Yes, royalty can go into the light, but think about it Titus…” She began. “I am, undead, I am stronger, faster and more powerful than any human, at night.” She moved on. “I can break down solid doors, pick things up ten times my size, or ten times what a normal fit man can at the very least, jump down from great distances without being harmed or even bruised. I can heal almost as fast as you can hurt me. All at night.” She took a breath and continued. “As well, I see in the dark, climb walls and am damn near invincible, save perhaps for cutting me in half.” She giggled at that. “Good luck with that one.” She winked at him again. “All of these things and more, I am capable of as an undead vanished to the darkness. “Royalty was granted the choice to walk the day, but in this choice we had to give up all that and so, in giving it up, that isn’t so simple, our bodies have to be changed, we have to become, like you.” She stated simply. “Imagine for me if you will, how your bones would react to falling from a ten story building, thirty even, how your eyes have to adjust to the dark, or use a light to guide your way.,,,” She left it hanging, hoping he was understanding what she was trying to say, her mind was still a little bit groggy form the change as of yet. “All of that needs to change, the very chemical make up of who I am at night and who I am during the day is different.” She finished and then sighed. “I honestly do apologize, you weren’t ready for that yet, I had hoped you would have had the chance to read about it, before you saw it.” She then told him in an almost shy manner, her blue orbs moving over his face.
